Background

The goal here was to investigate the ability of BufferedMatrix.justRMA() and justRMA() in situations where memory usage was purposely limited to 1GB.

Source code (note takes very long time to run)

Results

Discussion

justRMA() reached the memory limit somewhere between 50 and 75 arrays and could not proceed beyond this point. BufferedMatrix.justRMA() reached its memory limit somewhere between 250 and 300 arrays. In this case the function actually successfully reads and processeses the data, but dies when trying to create the expressionSet.
